The Broadway production of Billy Elliot was last week nominated for a staggering 15 Tony Awards, equalling the record set in 2001 by Broadway smash The Producers. Nominations included a Best Actor nomination for the three boys who share the title role, Kiril Kulish, David Alvarez and Trent Kowalik, who were deemed eligible for a joint nomination for their role. Other nominations included Best Musical and Best Score, and a Best Featured Actress nomination for Hadyn Gwynne who created the role of Mrs. Wilkinson as part of the original London cast. The awards will be announced at a ceremony at Radio City Music Hall in New York on June 7th.
