Billy Elliot the Musical repeated its success in London by walking away with 6 awards at the 8th annual Helpmann awards, including Best Musical and the awards for Best Male Actor and Best Female Actor in a Musical .

Hosted by Australian actor Jonathan Biggins this star-studded gala event is Australia's equivalent to Broadways Tony Awards or the West End's Olivier Awards, honouring artistic achievement and excellence live performance.

Best Female Actor in a Musical: Genevieve Lemon

Best Music Direction: Stephen Amos
Best Lighting Design: Rick Fisher
