ELLEN KANE - Choreographic Supervision
Ellen co-ordinates and supervises all dance aspects of Billy Elliot – The Musical, but particularly concentrates on the training
programmes for each boy that plays Billy and re-creates the
choreography for each Billy’s “Electricity”. She has also
reconstructed the choreography for the Royal Variety
Performance and for the video of Elton John’s single Electricity.
Ellen trained on a scholarship at the London studio centre. Since
graduating she has worked as a freelance performer, teacher,
assistant and associate choreographer. She performed for
several contemporary dance companies before joining the
Richard Alston Dance company in 2000, where she remained for
over three years.
Ellen has taught in most major dance colleges both in London and
internationally. Her first role as assistant choreographer was to
Petra Siniawski, the director of the jazz company at London
Studio Centre.
More recently Ellen has been working as an assistant/Associate
to both Peter Darling, helping create the choreography and train
the original three Billys, and on several projects with Anthony
van Laast – most recently 3 Musketiere in Berlin.
