LEON COOKE - Billy Elliot

I have been dancing since the age of two at The Marilyn Jones Dance Centre, which is like a second home to me. My Brothers. Sisters and my Mum have danced there. My Dad teaches for Miss Marilyn so I can join in as many classes as I like. I study Ballet, Tap Gymnastics, Theatrecraft, Song and Dance and Streetdance. I love Ballet and my ambition is to be as good as Mikhail Baryshnikov and Angel Corella from The American Ballet Theatre. I am a Mid- Associate with The Royal Ballet at Birmingham. I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire with my Mum and Dad, five sisters and two brothers, Tara, Zena, Cassandra, Damian, Anastasia, Valentina and Dmitri. I attend St. John Fisher Catholic High School. I appeared in the Nutcrackerat the Hippodrome with the Birmingham Royal Ballet in both 1999 and 2001, the National Tour of the King and Iwith Marti Webb at the Regent Theatre, Hanley and the Theatre Royal, Norwich and the National Tour of Tosca. Pantomimes include Aladdinwith the Chuckle Brothers at the Regent Theatre and Peter Panat the Lyceum Theatre, Crewe in 2004 in which I played John Darling. Last year I was nominated for the IDTA, Ken Dodd Tap Award. In my spare time I enjoy playing football and playing golf at the local driving range with my friend James. When in November 2003 my sister Zena, took me for the first audition in Manchester I had no idea that I would get through. It seems like a dream now that many auditions later I have been chosen to play Billy here at the Victoria Palace and I am really looking forward to it. I would like to dedicate all my performances in memory of my friend’s younger brother Matthew Whitehurst.
