Alexander trained at Rose Bruford College. Theatre Kindertransport, Popcorn, Anna Karenina, Perfect Pitch, Cabaret and Hansel and Gretel (Octagon Theatre, Bolton); A Small Family Business( West Yorkshire Playhouse); The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Coliseum Theatre, Oldham); The Amazing Adventures of Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol (Liverpool Playhouse); Lautrec (Theatre Royal Plymouth and Shaftesbury Theatre in the West End; West Side Story (Theatre Royal Plymouth and in the West End); Hard Times, Elsie and Norm's Macbeth and Peter Pan (Swan Theatre, Worcester); An Evening With Gary Lineker (Derby Playhouse and Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham); Cabaret (Derby Playhouse); A Family Affair (Theatr Clwyd); A Christmas Carol (Library Theatre, Manchester); Pal Joey (Theatre Royal, York); Fiddler On The Roof (Belgrade Theatre, Coventry); The Wonderful Adventures of Alice (London Bubble); Macbeth, The Red Balloon, Peter Panand Pygmalion (Birmingham Repertory).

Television: Alexander has appeared in Heartbeat and Emmerdale for Yorkshire Television; The Bill for Thames Television; Coronation Street and The Baby War for Granada Television; Holby City and the recurring role of Sergeant Stan Briggs in Doctors for the BBC. He has also narrated What The Dickens for the BBC Clothes Show and has worked on a video documentary Love to Shop, Shop To Love.

Film: Alexander played Old Joe in A Christmas Carol for Hallmark; Mr Bridges in 28 Days Later directed by Danny Boyle.
